UPS Contracts

This is not a FedEx Express contract.  A contract between FedEx Express and its employees can only be written by those it affects.  That is us; the employees.  We decide what the most important items are that we feel need to be addressed with our employer in writing and the priorities they take.  Yes, when we become Teamsters we will have all the negotiating expertise, legal backing and help that we need to help us and our fellow coworkers achieve the goals we all hope to attain.

The contracts are examples of what a group or groups of workers can achieve in working together. The contracts may not be representative of, or reflect what we might want. The contracts are posted for our reference. These are real legally binding documents between a workforce and their employer.

Despite FedEx Express’s best efforts to create the illusion of a real enforceable contract of written policies, work rules, GFT and a facade of perceived contractual provisions and false security.   Currently we have nothing more than a blank sheet of paper with our employer.

Yes, some of you and our employer can and will take the time to read, reread, decipher, weigh out and question each and every word and line of these agreements.  Some of you and our employer will cite and promote any perceived negative connotation that is read into these agreements.  If you want to take that time and put in that effort, go ahead.  It will not change the facts.  They got a contract, we don’t.

But no matter;  degrading of the agreements does not take away the true fact that the 200,000 plus UPS employees have a legally binding, truly enforceable contract that holds their employer accountable to them, the employees of United Parcel Service.

The UPS workforce has the opportunity and ability to change provisions and make revisions as they see fit through negotiations where they (the workforce) are treated as adults and as equals at the negotiation table.  They have the opportunity to approve or disapprove of the final agreement and they have the opportunity to submit their thoughts on each and every item in the form of a proposal for negotiation

With that, we are getting a unique opportunity to view the agreements that workers performing the same work we do have achieved. We hope this opportunity creates substantive conversation and sheds light on questions you might have.

Never forget that until us, the FedEx Express employees “Get It In Writing” in a Teamster contract, every aspect of our working life can be changed in an instant; without warning, without consideration to us, with just the stroke of a pen or to satisfy the whim of someone other than you.
